The classy new Rarenium CI4+ has a body frame built from Shimano's exclusive CI4+ composite. This reduces the weight dramatically compared to metal bodied reels, yet still retains the strength and stiffness required to ensure the internal gears retain their integrity when under pressure. The inclusion of a Magnumlite CI4+ rotor not only reduces weight further, it produces an ultra light rotation which improves the winding sensitivity, making the Rarenium CI4+ a superb lure fishing reel. All models combine Shimano's exclusive X-Ship gearing with 6 Shielded A-RB bearings. This produces ultra smooth performance combined with maximum winding efficiency. The relatively slow 5.0:1 gear ratio delivers excellent torque for anglers fishing for larger species.

Shimano reel features
Shimano AR-C Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. AR-C spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid.
CI4 stands for Carbon Interfusion with the 4 referring to the number of electrons in the Carbon atom. Ultimately, this means CI4 is reinforced Carbon Fiber. The new CI4+ is the next generation of Shimano's CI4 material and 250% stronger. It is over one and a half times stronger than Shimano's normal XT-7 graphite and is over 20% lighter. Because it does not contain metal, it is also impervious to rust. So, as a result of its strength and weight, it allows Shimano to create an extremely lightweight reel with very precise tolerances.
These spools provide increased strength and durability over diecast aluminum or graphite spools.
This feature eliminates wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing, an approach similar to car tire balancing, Shimano is able to redistribute the rotor weight to create smooth rotation and eliminate vibrations caused by the reel.
Easy Maintenance is a small oil lubrication port that enables direct lubrication of the inner workings of a reel with approved Shimano lubricant. Some highend Shimano reels have a line roller lubrication option.
The precision engineered main Hypergear transmits more power from the handle to the rotor. Designed to exacting tolerances, it requires less effort but returns more retrieve playing torque with vastly reduced component wear.
The one-piece bail wire has no gap for line to snag on during normal operation. Made of Stainless Steel, it reduces friction and allows the line to get onto the line roller quicker.
